Resilience Sailing
"The power of the sea is impossible to explain"
The 2017-18 schedule of Resilience Sailing programs have several different opportunities to engage participants. The first two programs; Come and Try and Learn the Basics, will be open to anyone wishing to experience sailing.
Our focus is on building confidence and a sense of achievement.
The first 12 week program, Sail For Life, has started. We will bring on other courses as needed and can run multiple courses at the same time. These groups will also have a research component for a broader understanding of sailing.
Program 1 - Come and Try
A One Day sailing experience to take the opportunity to engage with the participant to see if this style of activity will suit their rehabilitation. It will also give them a taste of what Resilience Sailing is capable of doing for them to assist their recovery.
There is no pressure. The day is designed to be fun and to experience the joy of sailing.

Program 2 - Learn the Basics
This two day program is designed to teach all participants basic skills to give them more confidence and to stretch their knowledge and abilities. It covers basic sailing skills such as – rules and etiquette of sailing, basic trimming of sails, and boat handling.
NOTE on request and depending on the participants, this can be extended to a three day program and include an Adventure Sail- depending on weather conditions. Costing on request
Program 3 - Sail For Life
For One day per week for twelve weeks, after pre event psychological testing, participants commit to taking on the challenge of actually sailing the boat by the end of the twelve weeks without the instructors. This course is designed to build trust, responsibility and confidence for participants.
There are post twelve week program psychological tests to gauge the changes made by participants immediately after the program.
To sustain these positive changes, participants and both encouraged to return to Resilience Sailing to participate in other events as well as linked to psychological testing each month thereafter for the next year.
